FAQ

I want you to edit my book. Now what?

You can send me a message or complete the Client Interest Form.

After I confirm receiving it, you schedule a Discovery Call.

Once we agree to work together, I send a contract outlining the cost, dates of service, and other details.

If your service includes a post-edit call, you schedule that within two weeks of the manuscript return date.

I don't know what kind of editing I need. What should I do?

Complete the Editing Questionnaire for Fiction or Nonfiction. Your answers will suggest an edit that’s right for you, and we can discuss your needs during the Discovery Call.

What is the payment schedule?

For manuscript evaluations and project consultations, full payment is due before work begins.

For editing services, depending on cost and length of the service, payments are divided into two or three equal installments.

  • For two installments, one is due on the start date before work begins, and the other is due on the return date before the manuscript is returned.
  • For three installments, one is due on the start date as above; one is due around the midpoint of the edit; and one is due on the return date as above.
Do you offer bundled services?

Yes. The Line + Copy Edit is available to all.

For experienced novelists, I offer a Comprehensive Fiction Edit that addresses plot, character, diction, flow, syntax, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and typos.

Send me a message for more information.

Do you offer ghostwriting services?

No. I do offer book doctoring services for contemporary romance on a case-by-case basis. Send me a message if you’re interested.

Are you willing to sign an NDA?

Of course! Our contract also includes a confidentiality clause.

Which style guide do you use?

The Chicago Manual of Style, 18th edition. I am unfamiliar with MLA and APA, so I do not accept manuscripts requiring their use.

Do you offer refunds if I am unsatisfied with your work?

No, and here’s why.

Before the work begins, I confirm your expectations through the

  • Description of Services;
  • Client Interest Form;
  • Discovery Call; and
  • Service Contract.

Together they ensure that your expectations of me—and my understanding of those expectations—are clear and agreed upon.

If you are unsatisfied with my work, we can discuss your concerns, and I may provide additional services/feedback if deemed appropriate.

But there are no refunds on completed work.
